Nessebar Old Town, Nessebar: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Nessebar Old Town occupies a small rocky peninsula connected to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast by a narrow 400-meter causeway. The town has been continuously inhabited for over 3,000 years, with Thracian fortification walls, a Greek-era agora, Roman baths, and roughly 40 medieval churches within an area of barely 850 meters by 300 meters. The 11th-century Church of St. Stephen preserves a complete cycle of 16th-century frescoes across its interior walls. The old town was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, and its windmill on the causeway has become the town's most photographed landmark.
