Shenyang Imperial Palace, Shenyang: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

The Shenyang Imperial Palace served as the royal residence of the early Qing dynasty from its construction beginning in 1625 until the court relocated to Beijing in 1644. The 60,000-square-meter complex holds over 300 rooms across 20 courtyards and combines Han Chinese architectural forms with Manchu and Mongol decorative elements, reflecting Nurhaci and Huang Taiji's multi-ethnic court. UNESCO added the site to the Forbidden City listing in 2004 as an extension. Admission runs around 50 yuan, and English audio guides are available at the main entrance.
