Kunming Dragon Gate, Kunming: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Kunming Dragon Gate is a series of grottoes, tunnels, and shrines carved into the limestone cliffs of the Western Hills overlooking Dianchi Lake, about 15 kilometers southwest of central Kunming in Yunnan. The carvings were executed by hand between 1781 and 1853 by Taoist monks working with chisels on the sheer cliff face. The final passage opens onto a narrow balcony 300 meters above the lake surface, framing a view across the 300-square-kilometer body of water. Stone staircases and a chairlift connect the Dragon Gate to temples lower on the hillside. When in Kunming it's worth considering not only but another main attraction like Green Lake Park Kunming.
