Merlin’s Cave, Cornwall: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Merlin's Cave is a sea cave beneath the headland ruins of Tintagel Castle on Cornwall's north Atlantic coast. The cave runs roughly 100 meters through the base of the promontory and is accessible at low tide from the beach below the castle entrance. Its name comes from Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th-century legend placing Merlin at Tintagel, though the cave itself is a natural formation eroded from the slate cliff. English Heritage, which manages the castle site above, installed a bronze sculpture of Merlin's face by Rubin Eynon at the cave mouth in 2016. When in Cornwall it's worth considering not only but another main attraction like Eden Project.
