Gendarmenmarkt is a square in central Berlin's Mitte district, laid out in the late 17th century and anchored by three buildings: the Konzerthaus concert hall designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1821, the French Cathedral built from 1701 for the Huguenot community, and the identically scaled German Cathedral completed in 1708.
