Jantar Mantar, New Delhi: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

 

Jantar Mantar is a collection of 13 astronomical instruments built between 1724 and 1730 by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, situated on Sansad Marg near Connaught Place in New Delhi. The largest instrument, the Samrat Yantra, is a triangular sundial 21 meters tall that can measure time to an accuracy of half a second. The instruments were designed to observe celestial movements and calculate positions of stars and planets. This is one of five observatories Jai Singh built across northern India; the largest is in Jaipur. is just one of many options in New Delhi.
