Lake Batur (Danau Batur), Ubud: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

 

Lake Batur is a caldera lake at 1,050 meters elevation in the Kintamani district of northeast Bali, filling a section of the massive caldera formed by the eruption of ancient Mount Batur. The lake stretches 7.5 kilometers across and reaches depths of 65 meters, supplying irrigation water to much of eastern Bali through a subterranean drainage system. The active volcano Gunung Batur, at 1,717 meters, rises directly from the lake's western shore, with its most recent eruption in 2000.
