Rosh Hanikra, Tiberias: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby
Rosh Hanikra is a white chalk cliff on Israel's northernmost Mediterranean coast, at the border crossing with Lebanon. A cable car—the steepest in Israel, descending at a 60-degree gradient—carries visitors down to a network of sea grottoes carved into the soft chalk by wave action over thousands of years. The tunnels extend roughly 200 meters into the cliff, with turquoise seawater surging through the chambers. During the British Mandate, a railway tunnel was carved through the headland to connect Haifa with Beirut; the abandoned tunnel entrance is still visible. When in Tiberias it's worth considering not only but another main attraction like Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret).
