Budva Old Town, Budva: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Budva Old Town occupies a walled peninsula on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, founded by Greek colonists roughly 2,500 years ago and rebuilt repeatedly under Venetian, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian rule. The current stone fortifications and street layout date primarily to the 15th-century Venetian period, with the Citadela fortress at the southern point. A devastating 1979 earthquake reduced much of the old town to rubble, with reconstruction completed by 1987. The 500-meter-wide walled quarter holds restaurants, small hotels, three medieval churches, and the City Museum documenting 2,500 years of continuous settlement.
