Chaukhtatgyi Paya houses one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Myanmar, a 66-meter-long figure lying inside an open-sided corrugated metal shed on Shwegondaing Road in Yangon's Bahan Township. The statue's feet display 108 sacred marks arranged in traditional patterns, and its face—repainted and resculpted several times since the original 1907 construction—wears a serene expression under a jeweled crown added in the 1960s. A smaller sitting Buddha image occupies an adjacent hall. The site sits roughly one kilometer north of Shwedagon Pagoda. is just one of many options in Yangon. Major attractions worth considering include Shwedagon Pagoda, Sule Pagoda (Sule Paya), and Bago.
