Ben Nevis Distillery sits at the base of Britain's highest mountain on Lochy Bridge Road in Fort William, about 2 kilometers north of the town center. Founded in 1825 by John McDonald, it is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The standard tour lasts around 45 minutes and covers the copper pot stills, washbacks, and a dram of the 10-year-old single malt, which carries a distinctive heathery, slightly peated character.
