Hanauma Bay, Oahu: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Hanauma Bay is a marine embayment within a volcanic tuff ring on O'ahu's southeast shore, roughly 16 kilometers east of Waikīkī. The bay was designated a Nature Preserve in 1967, and daily visitor numbers are capped at roughly 1,000 to protect the reef. Over 400 species of fish inhabit the inner reef, and green sea turtles are regularly spotted.
