Memorial Union Terrace, Madison: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby
Memorial Union Terrace sits on the south shore of Lake Mendota at the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus on Langdon Street. The outdoor terrace has served as a free public gathering space since the Memorial Union building opened in 1928 and holds roughly 1,200 signature sunburst-pattern metal chairs—colored in green, orange, and yellow. Live music, film screenings, and brat-and-beer service run from late April through October. The terrace faces due west, making it one of the most popular sunset-watching spots in the city. When in Madison it's worth considering not only but another main attraction like State Street & Downtown Madison.
