Jakhu Temple (Jakhoo Temple), Shimla: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby
Jakhu Temple sits at 2,455 meters on Jakhoo Hill, the highest point around Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, roughly a 45-minute steep walk or short taxi ride from the Ridge. The temple is dedicated to Hanuman and features a 33-meter statue of the monkey god installed in 2010, visible from much of the town below. Macaques roam freely on the grounds and will snatch unattended bags, glasses, and food. Admission is free, and a cable car from the Ridge operates for around 500 rupees round-trip during peak months. If you're making a trip of it, consider other main attractions in Shimla, like Mall Road and Rashtrapati Niwas (Viceregal Lodge).
