Mall Road, Shimla: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

Mall Road forms the main pedestrian avenue in Shimla, running roughly 1 kilometer along the ridge between Scandal Point and the Oberoi Cecil at around 2,200 meters elevation. The British established the road in the 19th century as the town's social and commercial spine, a function it retains with colonial-era buildings including the Gaiety Theatre, the Municipal Library, and Christ Church at its eastern end. Private vehicles are prohibited year-round. The evening promenade draws both residents and visitors from roughly 5 PM until late evening. If you're making a trip of it, consider other main attractions in Shimla, like Jakhu Temple (Jakhoo Temple) and Rashtrapati Niwas (Viceregal Lodge).
