Hierve el Agua, Oaxaca City: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

 

Hierve el Agua is a set of petrified waterfall formations and natural mineral spring pools on a cliff edge roughly 70 kilometers east of Oaxaca City in southern Mexico. Calcium carbonate–saturated water has deposited rock formations over thousands of years that cascade down the cliff face, resembling frozen waterfalls up to 30 meters tall. Two artificial infinity pools at the top are fed by the mineral springs and sit at the cliff's edge, overlooking the Mitla valley below.
