Fernkloof Nature Reserve, Hermanus: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

 

Fernkloof Nature Reserve covers 1,800 hectares of coastal fynbos on the mountainside above Hermanus in South Africa's Western Cape. The reserve contains over 1,600 plant species, making it one of the most botanically dense areas in the Cape Floral Kingdom. A network of 60 kilometers of marked trails ranges from gentle half-hour loops to full-day ridge hikes reaching about 840 meters above sea level. Entry is free, and the visitor center at the main gate on Fernkloof Drive includes a small botanical garden and wildflower identification displays.
