Hermanus Cliff Path, Hermanus: How to Visit and What to Do Nearby

 

Hermanus Cliff Path follows 12 kilometers of rocky coastline from the New Harbour on the west to Grotto Beach on the east side of town in South Africa's Western Cape. The paved and gravel trail stays within meters of the ocean and is one of the best land-based whale-watching routes in the world, particularly from July through November when southern right whales calve in Walker Bay. Benches and viewpoints are placed every few hundred meters. The walk takes roughly three to four hours end-to-end, though most visitors cover shorter sections from the town center.
